Mission

The Central Library will support the GCET curriculum by providing a vital, information-rich environment that will enhance faculty development and student learning by

• Promoting information and critical thinking skills that are essential to confident, independent learners
• Striving for a balanced, current, and relevant collection of resources in both traditional and electronic formats that provide professional, academic and career oriented information to meet the changing needs of the workforce

The Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Library System comprises of a Central Library and about 08 departmental libraries collectively supporting the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute.Each departmental Library maintained by concern departmental library coordinator with the guidelines of the concern Head of the Department. Departmental coordinator liaison with the central library in charge for any procurement of books, journals and for any other resources needed. The Central Library houses over 76,000 plus documents comprising of books, theses, journals, Videos, etc. in the field of engineering, science & technology, humanities, social sciences, and management.Central Library having the subscription of Knimbus mLibrary which is a platform that provides tools like Universal Search, Anywhere Access, Detailed Analytics and Librarian Dashboard on a single integrated platform so that students & faculty can seamlessly access library resources anytime, anywhere and on any device.

All in-house operations of the library are fully computerized using the Ez Library and OnEdu library management software that alsoprovides web-based access to the catalogue of the Central Library and some Departmental Libraries. It has a barcode based automated library system and a wide variety of printed and electronic collections catering to the needs of all the students, faculty and staff. The Library currently has over 4500 registered members

• CIRCULATION: Circulation works are lending of books and journals loan procedure, No due issues , reservations and issues and returns reports daily , monthly and yearly
• PERIODICALS: Magazines, periodicals and journals are published at various intervals. The frequency of their publication may be daily, bi-weekly weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual or irregular. The periodical section is separate space in our central library
• REFERENCES: The study of readers' services is concerned usually with the caliber of the reference service, the nature and effectiveness of the circulation system and interlibrary loans, It also includes the Periodicals and Reading Room services, service
• INTERLIBRARY LOAN: Interlibrary loan (abbreviated ILL, and sometimes called interloan, interblending, document delivery, document supply, or interlibrary services, abbreviated ILS) is a service whereby a patron of one library can borrow books, DVDs, music, etc. and/or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by another library. The membership of the our library is delnet and British library
• REPROGRAPHICS: The library provides reprographic facility to the students and faculty. Photocopying service was one of important services offered by the library.
• DIGITAL LIBRARY: Our Library provides digital library database the accesses to students and faculty through IP based, the facilities of the digital library is e books e journals video lectures course files question papers and document delivery service
• CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICE: Dissemination of information that will keep it users well-informed and up-to-date in their fields of basic interest as well as in related subjects is called Current Awareness Service.
• SELECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION: SDI is an idea to make the current awareness service a user oriented one by offering it at individual level of selected items and is restricted to every user's area of interest
• OPAC (ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOGUE): An OPAC Online Public Access Catalog is an online bibliography of a library collection that is available to the faculty and students . OPACs developed as Ez library software,and WEBOPAC
• ABSTRACTING AND INDEXING SERVICE: Abstracting and indexing (A&I) services unlock the content of scientific journal articles and eBooks using metadata and abstracts. ... Users browsing these services using particular search criteria are shown the relevant articles, chapters or books with the metadata, abstract and link to the full text.
• LIBRARY LITERACY PROGRAM:A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing.[ It provides physical or digital access to material, and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both . Our library can be include text books , reference books. E books, e journals, data cds, video lectures, course file and previous question papers

An OPAC is an online bibliography of a library collection that is available to the staff and students.

• Maintain Silence.
• Every Member should have ID card while entering the Library.
• Every member should have write Name, Roll number, Department and time in gate register.
• Internet Facility is available to every member, but it is limited to one hour and penalty of Rs. 50/-will be imposed if any member misuses it.
•  Don't use mobile phone and violation will attract severe punishment.
• Members shall not engage in conversation in any part of the library as it may cause annoyance to other reader.
• Members shall not write on, damage or mark any book belonging to the library.
• Members shall not shelve books and periodicals as that disturbs the prescribed order.
• Members are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the library and shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the librarian.
• The members caught tearing pages/stealing books will be from using the library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against them by the college.
• Printed material not allowed (Personal)
• Members leaving the library should stop at the check point so that the books borrowed or taken out of the library by them may be checked.
• Upon any infringement of the library rules, members shall forfeit the privileges of admission and membership of the library.
• Information regarding loss of books/books should be given immediately and the same should be replaced within a week.
